| | Trail run with Conner and Ethan. It was very snowy and slick.
|
| | 9 easy, it was very slushy\snowy\wet but peaceful.

| | 4.5 miles in the slush/snow with Tyson, Ethan, and Jordan, then half a mile inside with Conner.

| | I ran inside with Conner and Ethan, from the running in circles and in the hotter environment I felt really dizzy.

USU indoor track meet (1 Miles) 00:05:06 | | The USU meet this year was put together really well in my opinion and it had some good competition too. I decided that it would be good to run the 16 and 3200m, the 1600 was first and I got 5:06, the 3200 was one of the last events and I got 11:08. Overall I was satisfied with my times considering running inside and from how early in the year it is.

St. George Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:24:58 | | I was able to go down and run the St. George Half this year. In my opinion it was a really good race and the course was nice (but tough). I was debating on racing or just running for fun for a while now but I decided to just go out and race it. I started the race out a little too fast but once I got into my pace I felt good. About two miles in my quads started to feel unusually sore, I still don't know why because I feel I tapered well. Miles 6 and 7 were up a fairly steep hill and I was really happy with the pace I was running up the hill but once I hit the down hill my legs felt dead. Basically the rest of the race was flat and I just tried to stay under 7 min pace.
Splits: 6:08 (whoops), 6:21, 6:21, 6:18, 6:29, 6:41, 6:34, 6:17, 6:36, 7:00, 7:08, 6:47, and 6:30
Considering that the only thing that hurt during the race were my quads and how much I pushed it I know that I can have some better races to come.

| | It was nice to get back on my feet after my half, luckily I think I recovered well since Saturday.

Boise Indoor track meet (2 Miles) 00:11:01 | | After a really long car ride to Boise we got to the track meet we checked into our hotel then went to the meet. I warmed up with Tyson, Conner, Ethan, and Kyler. Ethan was in my heat for the 2 mile so we paced well off of eachother for the race. I don't remember my splits but I was running really consistent the entire race. Ethan and I slowly kept passing the people that were slowing down a bit, I tried to make a big move on Ethan to try to get him behind me so with about 600m left I surged. I thought I had made a good move on him but it turns out he wasn't far behind me and he out sprinted me by .03 seconds in the last 100.
Later that night Tyson, Kyler, Ethan, and I had a 4x800m relay. I wasn't planning on doing it but I was alright with running I figured Tyson wanted to get a good 800m time because he wouldn't have time to run the open 8 on Saturday. We lost track of time so when I warmed up it was short and sweet. I think I hit about 2:18 for my 800 split which isn't bad but I feel I can be a much better 800 runner.

Boise Indoor track meet (1 Miles) 00:05:00 | | I was really annoyed with my time for the 1 mile and 2 mile at Boise because they both were barely over 5 and 11 min. I warmed up with Kyler, Conner, Tyson, and Ethan then we watched the girls run their race. Ethan was in my heat for the mile again so this time my goal was to try and beat him. I went out slow for the first 200m of the race, I felt boxed in and I almost tripped a couple of times. I just tried to hold on and hit my pace. With about 600m left I saw that Ethan and most of the pack was in front of me so I decided to surge. I picked up the pace and held it really well, I just didn't want Ethan to beat me again. With 200m to go I realized that I had to run a 33 sec 200m to break 5 min. I kicked it well but ran a 34 instead. Overall I was really happy with this meet I feel good with my times this early in the year and am excited for Simplot.

| | I had to hurry home and run after school so I decided to get two tempo miles in I hit 6:05 then 5:58 my lungs were hurting a bit but i'm glad I could get some tempo in.

| | I originally decided to go easy but I saw some guys running up the beast (a fairly steep 280m hill) so I did a 4 repeats with them. Then I some more xc guys came by so we all ran back to SV then I ran home, I felt pretty tired on the way back from the hills. It was very slushy and snowy and wet.

| | I had too much on my mind this week, mentally I needed a break so I ran up to the Smithfield campground then around in the snow for a mile or so. It was a nice day for a run.

| | Six easy miles, we took it fairly slow we all were a bit sore from all of our different runs the day before.

| | I got 5 miles in before I wen xc skiing for the first time, it was fun working muscles I don't work as much.

| | Kyler and I did an out and back on the saddleback route I felt good it was nice to get a Sunday rest in.

| | I was not feeling that good today, my legs were really tired and I could hardly breathe. I had to go to the bathroom a lot the last little bit so I was running tempo pace for the last mile or so. I guess sometimes we need the runs that are no fun to appreciate running.

| | Sucky run today, my hip hurt and my legs hurt A LOT. I think I'm gonna take tomorrow off and go easy for a bit.

| | I was originally planning on going easy but Ethan wanted to do some sprints so I did 5x30 second and 3x1 min intervals then we went inside on the 13 lap track and did 2xhalf mile tempos and 1 more mile tempo. I didn't feel like I was going as hard as I should have been going for a workout but I guess that ok since I wasn't planning on doing one.

| | We did 2 miles tempo today but my legs were killing me so I just ran tempo effort for the 2 miles. I didn't use my watch today so I don't know how fast I was running all I know is that my legs were burning the entire run and my lungs too.

| | Five miles with the guys today. I noticed I am starting to get sick and my legs are really tired even my easy runs are starting to feel hard. It makes me nervous because Simplot is in 2 days.

Simplot (1 Miles) 00:05:04 | | I have been waiting for this meet for a long time. I was really hoping to get a good time but unfortunately I have been sick the past couple of days. I wanted to get under 5 but I feel that I did good considering the circumstances. All day I felt weaker than usual and had a sore throat I felt my energy come back a little right before my race. I don't remember much during the race except I pushed myself a lot.

| | 3.5 really easy miles with Joe. I would do more but I want to recover from being sick I am pretty happy with how good I have been recovering.

| | I got 7 easy miles in this morning, I am feeling a lot better now it is still hard to breath but I was able to go at my normal easy pace and have it feel how it should.

| | 4.5 really easy miles today, I went skiing yesterday so I didn't run. I have really been slacking mileage wise I haven't got a 6 day week in a long time. Looks like it's time to get some more miles!

| | Kind of an interesting run, I decided to get some tempo in so I did two miles tempo. My tempo pace has become a bit slower which isn't a big deal right now because it will drop once the track season starts.

| | Nice run today, my legs were a little tired which I didn't mind that much. On our way back to SV Jordan, Ethan and I ran past a farm with a lot of cows and the farmers were draining the animal waste into a field. It was the worst smell ever. Other than that it was a good run.

| | Went on an adventure run with Ethan then we saw Conner on the way back to SV so we ran with him for about a mile and a half.

| | Today we had track tryouts so there wasn't much running to do. I ran a 400 in 58 sec so that made me feel pretty good. We worked a lot of muscles so I feel pretty tired and a little bit sore in my legs.

| | Finally the last day of tryouts. I am feeling very sore but it hurts more to walk then run which I guess is good. Hopefully I can get a good rest in before we start getting some good workouts on the track next week.

| | Track practice has finally started! We got an easier workout to kind of get back into the track workouts so that was pretty nice. We did 3x300s with a 30 sec break then a 400 and 200. So not too hard. I hit my 3s in 54, 58 and 56 but I thought we were doing 9 of them so I kind of slowed down a bit. I hit my 4 in 1:09 and 2 in 32 so that was good.

| | 2 mile tempo today. I felt like I was pushing it quite a bit but pace wise I struggled.

| | Pre meet today so we ran to Mack park and played some games then ran back. I am pretty excited to have our intersquad meet tomorrow.

| | The blue and white meet was today. I was planning on running the 16 today I didn't know what to expect because I wasn't going to go all out. When we got up to the track I realized it was super windy which was a big bummer. I kind of let that be my excuse for not running hard enough. I really need to work on getting out of my comfort zone before it's too late in the season.

| | 5 miles easy but pretty good pace. Afterwards Conner wanted to do 3 400s so Tyson, Ethan and I did them with him. I got 66, 68, and 69 so I feel pretty good about that. Then after that we did a small core workout, it felt pretty good.

| | Got a good track workout in today, 8x200 w/200 recovery then after a full recovery with a 600 at the same pace as the 2s. I hit my 2s in 34, 35, 35, 35, 35, 37, 37, and 38, my 600 was 1:50. I feel really good about the times especially my 600 so I definately feel some PRs coming on.

| | Today was not a good running day :/ we were supposed to do 4-7x1000s at tempo pace but I do not know why that killed me but it did. I did 4 1000s then a 300 with Tyson and Alex afterwards. I was having some breathing problems or something, oh well what's a good day without a bad day to compare it to?

BE @ SV duel (0.5 Miles) 00:02:14 | | It was really awesome to race against my old team and see and race against a bunch of my old friends. I think running against my old school really made me nervous for the 1600. I didn't get a good time in it, 5:25, so I wasn't really happy with that so I decided to race the 8 instead of using it as a workout. I PRd in the 800 with a 2:14.98 which made me feel better because I know I can improve. I randomly decided to run the 200 (29 sec) and I did 1200m of the 32 as tempo but I was tired because it was less than two minutes after the 200. My legs feel pretty tired but I think I hit a mental barrier that I need to break.

| | Went with Ethan for a 5 mile trail run, he wanted to do some sprints so it was pretty tough doing a sprint workout while running on the trails it was fun though. I did 2 aftter when I got home.

| | It was extremely windy today so we did our warm and cool inside. Our workout was 2x1000 2x800 and 3x300. I did good for the 1000s and 3s and not so good for the 8s

| | Found out why I have been having such a hard time running, lately I have been feeling really weak when I run my muscles get sore easier and stay sore longer and I have been really dizzy. Anyway I have anemia and my doctor wants me to run less until we can start fixing it.

| | I dediced that I should start posting on my running blog again, I stopped mid track season because I had to stop running and I never started the blog up when I started running. Well today we had a good workout to help us prepare for region 2x800 3x400 and 4x200. I felt unusually tired but I will be fine by region on Friday.

| | We did a little speedwork, about 200s with some jogging in between them.

| | I took today really easy and ran with some peeps that I don't usually run with to try and get my legs feeling good and ready for region.

| | I did part of a track workout with Alex and Jordan 200, 400, and 800. Then I added on 3 miles with Ethan.

| | So we went 3 with Alex then Jordan and Ethan added on 3 more. It was a nice run but my quads were a little tired from yesterday and apparantly I am running the saltair half marathon on Saturday so that should be fun.

| | What a nice run. Painful. Cold. But it felt really good. Conner and Ethan ran with me the entire time and Alex and Caleb ran with us for the first 5.

| | I did a small tempo workout because I am tired from my high mileage this week (for me) so I did a mile then took a break for a half mile tempo with some striders after. Legs feel good and tire.

Turkey trot 5k (3.25 miles) (3.25 Miles) 00:19:20, Place overall: 2 | | I warmed up with Ethan and Conner inside the rec center a mile then we chilled inside until 5 min before the race because it was so dang cold and rainy. The race started and it was annoying because the 10k runners started about 50 meters in front of the 5kers (don't ask why because I don't know). So I passed all of them and there were some 5kers and 2 10kers infront of me. The first mile was into the wind and rain. The second was unbeleivably slow but it was up hill but it was still slow. Then the third mile was actually good 5:35 and the last 400 was in a 1:08(this was after mile 3) so I felt good about that. I took second which was alright but I could have won if my legs weren't so tired.

| | I was at my uncles house in Wyoming. I hate wyoming. It's too windy. I did a turkey trot and won but I was running so slow. Like easy pace slow so it doesn't count as a race because I literally got bored mid race.

| | I had almost no time to run today, but I did. Yay. My body is feeling really really exhuasted when I run and I don't really know why but it is scaring me because I know I should be running a lot more to be feeling like this.

| | Ethan, Conner, Trevor, Alex and I did beast repeats, dropped off Alex, dropped Trevor off at the park, extended up Smithy, picked up Trevor, gave him a pep talk because he needs to know that he is a better runner than he thinks he is. We dropped Conner off, dropped Trevor off, then Ethan and I extended a bit more. Legs are tire but they feel good.

| | We went 4 miles with Conner at like 6:15 pace and that was really fast but it felt good. Later I did 5 at home that was pretty quick because we ran so fast earlier and I was used to running fast by then.

| | Holy moly. Today was intense. Conner my man offered to pace me n Ethan to a sub 5 mile. I've done that once. Now twice. So we warmed up ran the mile then cooled. Me and Ethan both PRd which was pretty decent, I guess. I hit 4:49 and Ethan hit 4:50 which was grand. Ethan and I agreed it wasn't really an all out pace and that we can definately run faster in racing conditions. All in all a good day and a good week so far. High mileage for me but I feel good.
